Retired teacher seeks school board seat

To the editor,
I am Doreen Grams and I am running for the Delavan-Darien School Board. I taught in the Delavan-Darien School District for 31 years as an elementary physical education teacher, coached and continue to volunteer in the district in retirement.

In my career as a journalist, I have encountered many public officials who respect government openness and transparency.

When I was a history teacher, I asked my students to examine important moments from our nation’s past. My students would create simulations to put themselves in the shoes of important decision-makers.

To the editor,
No matter how you frame it, Paul Ryan has swallowed the D.C. kool-aid. He speaks on conservative values, then does the opposite. The House Republicans are fractured under his leadership.

To the editor,
It was a sad day on Feb. 14, when a young man from Florida allegedly shot and killed 17 students. There were so many warning signs that Nikolas Cruz was a troubled young man, but they went ignored. Cruz was expelled from high school and had many personal and social problems.
