The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: On a beautiful 70-degree spring day, it was a bit disappointing that only 10 hikers showed up. I suggested that we drive to Oleson Cabin and hike to Confusion Point on the Ice Age Trail and come back on the horse/snowmobile trail. This time of spring there are a lot of flowers in bloom. I saw yellow wood violets, lots of anemone, regular violets and Jack–in-the-pulpit to just name a few. The most common was garlic mustard, which has little white flowers and is very invasive.
Lunch and live music are featured at Fridays in the Park, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fridays through Sept. 20 at First National Bank Plaza, State Street and Grand Avenue in downtown Beloit.
