Share culture over a cold beer at Old World Wisconsin

Written by  Staff Writer
EAGLE — Old World Wisconsin is hosting Wiesn in a Box — a pop-up traveling beer garden — to celebrate shared history, experiences and culture between the United States and Germany.

The pop-up beer garden is part of Wunderbar Together, a two-year commemoration of friendship between Germany and the United States.

The beer garden is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this weekend as well as June 1-June 2 and June 8-June 9 at Old World Wisconsin, W372-S9727 Wisconsin Highway 67.

“In the Bavarian dialect Wiesn means ‘fairgrounds,’ which is where Oktoberfests and other social events take place,” said Dan Freas, director of Old World Wisconsin. “We invite guests to take a seat in our Wiesn and have a cold Hofbrau beer, rest their feet and enjoy the company of friends and family.”

This special event does not require an admission ticket. Beer and pretzels will be sold separately.

The joint project is financed by the German Federal Foreign Office, the Federation of German Industries and the Goethe-Institut, with the goal of enhancing the cultural dialogue between Germany and the United States.
