The story involves the 1950s Catholic education of eight Chicago children, following them from the start of elementary school through the senior prom and beyond.
“Along the way it touches on such topics as first confessions, puppy love, patron saints, teacher's pets, sex education classes and the importance of wearing panties under the school uniform's plaid pleated skirt,” according to a news release.
“The main focus is on late-blooming Eddie Ryan and chubby Becky Bakoswki, who become best friends, fall in love and then go their separate ways when Becky decides to join a convent.”
JaNelle Powers of Lake Geneva is the director. Her late husband, John R. Powers, wrote the book based on his novel of the same title.
Linda Kouzes of Delavan and Beth Sukala of Elkhorn are co-producing the show and Janet Palmer of Delavan is the accompanist.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 12, Oct. 13, Oct. 19 and Oct. 20; and 3 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.
