Exhibit hours are noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, March 1 through March 25. A reception with Miklik is set for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, and is free and open to the public.
Miklik holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in fine art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has recently retired after teaching portrait and figurative art for 15 years at various Chicago suburban art league locations and 11 years as instructor of drawing and painting at the Chicago Botanic Gardens art department.
While portrait arts are Miklik’s major lifelong pursuit and study, he currently explores artistic adventures in clay, assemblage and cartooning.
Locally, Miklik has taught drawing at the Starin Senior Center and looks forward to classes in portrait sketching.
The March show at the Whitewater Arts Alliance’s Cultural Arts Center represents portraits of Chicagoland artist models.
“It was purely an accident that I happened to meet Jason and his family when they visited the CAC last year,” Linda Long, Whitewater Arts Alliance co-president, said in a news release. “We got to talking about his art experiences and I invited him to consider exhibiting with us.
“We are delighted to have an artist with his expertise in our gallery.”
