Entrepreneurs are bringing new businesses to our downtown such as SASID, SHINE, N1 Critical, Bodacious Shops, Sweet Velvet, Rock County Brewery, Foremost Media, The Lark and many others. Our city council recently approved a Cobblestone Hotel, which will bring travelers with money to spend in our downtown.
Recently, downtown property owners stepped up to create a business improvement district, which will help promote our downtown as a destination. The BID plans to host two signature events every year aimed to attract thousands of visitors to our community. The BID also plans to remove snow from key corridors downtown, which will make for a more pleasant experience during the winter months.
Last year, the city successfully converted Milwaukee Street to two-way traffic and soon will consider doing the same on Court Street. With the Town Square on the west side wrapping up and plans to convert River Street into a festival street, construct a new Milwaukee Street Bridge, reconstruct Milwaukee Street and complete the east side of the Town Square, our downtown is rockin’.
Together we are creating a better Janesville.
