Fest provides fun, funds

Written by  Staff Writer

To the editor,
The Friends of Carver Roehl Park would like to thank everyone who attended our 15th annual Fall Fest on Oct. 1. Mother Nature certainly cooperated, as skies were sunny and temperatures mild, allowing families ample time to enjoy the scenic beauty of the park and the many activities. Jesse Walker provided entertaining music while children enjoyed face painting, crafts, coloring and gourd decorating, as well as a petting zoo sponsored by Clinton FFA.

Adults were treated to an excellent array of area crafters with a wide variety of items being sold. The food stand and bake sale provided delicious goodies and a time to visit with friends and neighbors. The theme baskets and Christmas quilt raffle tables were busy with excited children and adults hoping to be lucky winners.

Both young and old learned the secrets of growing enormous pumpkins, courtesy of an interesting and informative presentation given by John Karstetter, Clinton-area member of The Pumpkin Kings. Many also enjoyed nostalgic horse-drawn carriage rides provided by Jim Hunkins and Tammy Hennager of Brodhead and their impressive team of Percheron draft horses. Others chose to get some exercise by taking a guided hike led by David Hoffman of the Rock County Parks Department.

Friends group members deeply appreciate the continued support from local businesses, friends, neighbors and Fall Fest attendees. Friends of Carver Roehl Park is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. New members and donations are always welcome; contact us at P.O. Box 254, Clinton, WI 53525.

Funds raised at this event will be used for continued improvements throughout Carver Roehl Park.
