Written by  CSI Media news

BELOIT -- A memorial art exhibit of the art of Dale Edwards will be on display during May at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator. The sculptor was a resident of Beloit, where he developed his distinctive style. He died in September 2015 in Arizona at age 76.

The First Friday opening reception will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 5, 2017, at the incubator located at 520 E. Grand Ave., Beloit.

(Beloit sculptor Dale Edwards was photographed in 2011 by staff photographer Terry Mayer for a Stateline News story. Scroll down from more photos from that session.

In a letter Edwards wrote in 1997, he said "(I) discovered my special gift as an artist while attending Beloit Grammar School. Teachers always drew attention to my work, holding it in high praise, asking if they could keep my pieces for themselves. In high school I was encouraged to and did attend special art classes."

In later years, he lived in Los Angeles but always called Beloit his home.

The show will feature a wide variety of his work, including metal, wood, ceramic and stone sculptures, as well as abstract drawings.

Edwards work is still available on his website,

This show will offer the public a unique opportunity to purchase some of Edwards’ work.

The show continues through May 26. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
