Fundraiser to benefit South Beloit 2-year-old battling cancer

Written by  CSI Media news

SOUTH BELOIT -- While a South Beloit 2-year-old battles stage IV kidney cancer, friends and family are organizing a fundraiser to help defray mounting medical bills.

Logan Windsor first was diagnosed in August 2016 when doctors discovered a Wilms tumor, a type of childhood kidney cancer, that had spread to his lungs. He has been receiving treatment ever since.

The moonlight bowling fundraiser begins at 8:30 p.m. April 29 at Viking Lanes, 210 Oak Grove Ave., South Beloit.

The first round of chemotherapy shrunk the tumor, but it still was very large, wrapping around part of his heart, according to family members.

After six weeks of chemotherapy doctors spent 13 hours in surgery to remove Windsor’s tumor and kidney.

He currently is undergoing stronger chemotherapy and radiation treatments that will continue through August.

Windsor’s father, Josh, is a South Beloit High School graduate, and his mother, Jessica, graduated from Beloit Memorial High School. Windsor has a sister, Sophia, age 6.

Organizers are asking for a $35 per couple donation. The event also features a silent auction, raffles and more.

For information or to register, call Chris Windsor at 608-713-4379.
