BELOIT — Police have stepped up traffic enforcement in school zones following an increasing number of complaints.

Two officers were assigned to Todd Elementary School on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 to encourage compliance with parking rules and to prevent parents from blocking driveways, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

“We have had many complaints around Todd school recently about neighbor driveways being blocked. We have had officers in the area to try to ask for compliance,” according to a post Wednesday by Sgt. Ryan Flanagan.

He said police have promised the neighbors and the schools that police will be in the area issuing citations to violators so that neighbors can have to access their own driveways.

“It is a reasonable request on their part. We would ask you to not park blocking driveways around any of the schools as well as not parking in the no-parking areas that can cause congestion and lead to collisions or worse yet, injuries,” Flanagan said.
