BELOIT — Before cutting the ribbon that roped off the bridge to the newly remade Turtle Island II playground June 21, recent Beloit Memorial High School graduate Lizzie Jenkins took a moment to reminisce.
“I was about 1-and-a-half, 2 (years old) when the first Turtle Island was opened,” Jenkins said, at a sun-splashed Riverside Park. “I can’t imagine a time without it. I hope you kids enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the first one.”
Early reviews suggest they will. Once the ribbon was snipped, the anxious kids in the crowd rushed across the bridge and through the Turtle Island II gates, finding a new adventure-themed play area.
