Should Wisconsin Democrats suffer significant election losses Nov. 2, their post mortem likely will chalk it up to the national wave of discontent allegedly manufactured by the vast right-wing conspiracy.
Dems not suckered by this progressive delusion might wonder with good reason whether their juvenile party leadership is at least partially responsible.

Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold certainly is a maverick. What other Badger State politician would dare use despised Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss in a Hail-Mary attempt to revive a sagging re-election bid?
Feingold, who likes to pretend every six years that he isn’t a reliable vote for the leadership of the Democratic Party, recently aired a television campaign ad featuring Moss doing an infamous and obscene pants-down pantomime five years ago at Lambeau Field. Moss mooning the crowd, a smirking Feingold suggests, is akin to what Republican challenger Ron Johnson would do to the state if he is elected.

As the Nov. 2 general election nears, American newspaper readers can expect to be lectured interminably by editorialists from sea to shining sea that it is our “civic duty” to trundle off to the polls and vote.
This preachy exhortation always occurs in election years when Democrats are facing significant losses and are unable to count on vote fraud to make up the difference.

We were struck last week by the inadvertent juxtaposition of news stories involving congressional Republicans re-affirming core principles and an Obama administration exposed as bereft of principles not rooted in self-serving politics.
Buoyed by their prospects in the November general election, GOP leaders released a “Pledge to America” Sept. 21 that promises a return to fiscal restraint and a foreign policy that emphasizes safety through strength, rather than the bowing, scraping and serial apologies preferred by the current administration. The same day, newly released excerpts from a book by journalist Bob Woodward describe a timorous President Obama rejecting for political reasons all plans designed to actually win the war in Afghanistan.

Just when you thought lame-duck Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle might finally be in a position where he can’t do further harm, he demonstrates his cretinous legacy remains under construction.
Doyle is not seeking re-election in November, but that doesn’t mean he’s through rewarding the cloying sycophants who enabled his ethically challenged administration for eight years.

Proponents of a plan to establish a mosque near ground zero in New York City have a new ally whose fulminations further illuminate why most Americans oppose the project.
Filmmaker Michael Moore, the buffoonish purveyor of anti-American slander in various “documentaries” that properly wowed the lemming left, wrote recently that the mosque and a related “cultural center” should not be built two blocks from ground zero, but on the site itself.
