Former smokers help anti-tobacco efforts

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has brought back its tips from former smokers ads to help convince tobacco users to quit. Over the course of the last seven years that this campaign has run, it has helped millions of tobacco users to quit their addiction. Throughout the seven years of this campaign it has not lost any of its power.

Having driven to work in Illinois for over eight years and visiting museums, a zoo and other places in Illinois for over 50 years, I became extremely irked by the fact I had to pay their tolls but vehicles from Illinois used Wisconsin freeways for free.

In response to D.J. Duffy’s April 22 letter: When our great lady of Ellis Island proclaimed, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” I don’t think she was referring to illegal, unidentified border-jumpers who sneak in, work cheap and sign up for any and every government entitlement program that our over-generous, tolerant government will award them.
