Will tax reform bill really benefit you?

Written by

To the editor,
“There you go again!” Words made famous by Ronald Reagan during his debate with Jimmy Carter. I’m using those same words to describe the GOP’s recently unveiled tax “reform” bill. The proposed plan comes with a $1.5 trillion deficit price tag. “There you go again” spending money we don’t have.

Ban weapons made for war

Written by

To the editor,
(This letter is in response to the letter from Michael Buchek in the Oct. 22 Walworth County Sunday.)

After World War II, the Army’s research found that the chief predictor of casualties was the number of shots fired in a short period of time. The military asked arms manufacturers to develop a lightweight weapon with a large detachable magazine that could be used to inflict extreme damage. The AR-15 became the military’s standard-issue weapon. Weapons similar to the AR-15 are available to any citizen along with magazines that carry up to 100 rounds.

Amy Loudenbeck and Mark Spreitzer with the heading “Lawmakers support budget provision limiting eminent domain power for railroads.” Great Lakes Basin Transportation had applied for a 200-foot-wide easement on its 261-mile rail line proposal. Pipelines could have been buried in the corridor too.

Tammy Baldwin has failed our veterans

Written by

To the editor,
Liberal media outlets are soft-pedaling the way Tammy Baldwin attempted to cover up the scandal at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Tomah. The Tomah Veterans Hospital was over-prescribing opioids to veterans, resulting in injury and death to veterans.
