MADISON – Gov. Scott Walker today requested the U.S. Small Business Administration declare Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth counties a disaster area due to damage caused by widespread flooding last month, according to a release from the governor’s office. An SBA disaster declaration would provide low-interest loans to eligible individuals and businesses affected by the floods.
Rep. Paul Ryan will appear at a televised Wisconsin town hall at 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 21, at the Racine Theater Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave., in Racine.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper will moderate the event.
Ryan, who is serving as Speaker of the House, will take questions from an audience of First District constituents. Among the issues expected to be discussed are looming deadlines for the 2018 federal budget, tax reform legislation, an infrastructure package, and House Republican priorities once Congress is back in session.
“CNN will be in charge of attendance for this event and is inviting people of Wisconsin's First District to fill the audience,” a news release from Ryan’s office stated.
Live coverage will air on CNN, CNN en Español, CNN International, and will be carried by CNN’s SiriusXM Channel 116 and the Westwood One Radio Network.
ELKHORN--Walworth County residents now have a new online way to share their input on county issues and policies.
County officials have launched Polco, a new “engagement platform for citizens to directly influence our community decision-making process,” according to a release from the Walworth County administrator’s office.
Polco, a civic analytics website and apps, will let county officials post questions to citizens and review their responses to determine some policy decisions, the release noted.
TOWN OF DELAVAN—A Whitewater man died when his car crashed into a tree on County Highway P, north of County Highway M in the town of Delavan Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian G. Blucher, 26, of Whitewater, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 7 a.m. Thursday by the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the release.
