WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Besides the scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages, cheese and even ice cream being served at the 41st annual Walworth County Dairy Breakfast in Elkhorn on June 17, visitors also will get a slice of farm life.
Traditionally, dairy breakfast-goers are treated to a look behind the scenes of a local host family farm. This year they’ll be able to catch shuttle buses from the Walworth County Fairgrounds to Sterken Farms near Delavan for tours of both a dairy farm and a newer agribusiness.
SOUTH BELOIT -- It isn’t stuff of the hit 1985 movie, but organizers and supporters of Nature at the Confluence are going back to the future.
They’re learning about what once was, while imagining what the abused land near the intersection of the Rock River and Turtle Creek can become again.
JANESVILLE MESSENGER -- Law enforcement officers and innocent drivers survived life-threatening situations this past Dec. 31 during a police chase that started in the town of Beloit and ended after a standoff near the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport.
And Rock County Sheriff’s Office squad car cameras caught all of the frantic action along U.S. Highway 51 between Beloit and Janesville.
WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Vacationing tourists are starting to fill Walworth County, and Black Point Estate and Gardens is ready to welcome them. Of course, Black Point has been opening its doors to guests for well over a century.
This season visitors will see a major restoration of the covered veranda that wraps around the house after it was meticulously rebuilt from top to bottom.
FONTANA -- Chalk up Jennifer Dexter’s social media career to some happy holiday memories with cookie cutters, frosting and sprinkles.
Her earliest forays into baking as a little girl were making cut-out Christmas cookies with her mother. Gradually she added more treats to her repertoire, much to the appreciation of her family.
