WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Crayons and dolls are just part of the day for Bridget Sandoval, a Delavan mother of three, whose youngest child is 4 years old.
“I’ve told people over the years that I decided to be a stay-at-home mom because it gives me an excuse to play with Barbies,” she said, laughing.
BELOIT -- Winterfest is all about fun in the snow, with a dash of creativity. For about 20 years, the event has remained popular.
This year’s event, held Friday through Sunday, Jan. 29 through Jan. 31, will feature several new activities, including snowman building. Beloit Memorial High School students will work with children and their parents to help them create a snowman masterpiece. Residents should register ahead of time by calling 608-364-2890, ext. 1.

JANESVILLE MESSENGER -- Poultry farmer Dale Wheelock remembers one of his first responsibilities as a 10-year-old farm kid was minding the family’s chickens.
“It was like whitewashing a fence; you begged to take care of the chickens at that age,” he said. “You didn’t understand you had to clean up after them, too.”
