WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Maybe it’s been years since you’ve made s’mores or joined in a sing-along by an open campfire, practiced archery or worked on arts and crafts under a green spread of trees. But if you’re missing those carefree summertime days and nights, you can re-create them -- or start your own memories.
Adult summer camps are a growing business, with more than 800 camps in the United States and more than a million adults attending them in 2013, according to the marketing company Grownupcamps.com site.
TOWN OF GENEVA -- Founders of a nonprofit group that takes care of injured and orphaned animals are worried about providing security for their animals if a company goes through with plans for cutting down trees near the property.
American Transmission Co. plans to clear trees and undergrowth in an easement within Fellow Mortals Inc., W4632 Palmer Road. ATC owns a 7.8-mile transmission between Elkhorn and Lake Geneva that includes an easement near Fellow Mortals.
WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Looking to get off the beaten path this summer? Look no further than the 26 miles of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail that wind through Walworth and Jefferson counties.
Ice Age Trail segments are located near Colley Road, Whitewater Lake, Rice Lake, Whitewater campground and Lake LaGrange.
SOUTH BELOIT -- Terry Meyers discovered his love for kayaking after participating in several paddle trips organized by Nature at the Confluence.
"After the first couple of trips, I bought my own kayak," Meyers of Beloit said. "(The paddle trips) are an opportunity if you’re interested in it to rent a kayak. It’s a nice way to get introduced to it."
WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- June is well known as dairy month, and the Stateline is celebrating with a variety of events honoring all things dairy as well as our agriculture heritage.
Rock, Walworth and Boone-Winnebago counties will host dairy breakfasts in the next few weeks, and Wisconsin’s Alice in Dairyland paid a visit to the area just last week.
