The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: On a warm spring evening, 14 hikers showed up. I had a couple of places in mind and asked for other suggestions. Andy said how about going toward Duffin Road and returning on the horse trail. That was quickly made our selected trail for this hike.
The Tuesday hike report by Marvin Herman: Hooray, hooray the first of May! Winter is well in our rear view mirrors as we drive into another warm weather hiking season. Today we have nine hikers and we decide to walk the nearly three miles clockwise around beautiful Lake LaGrange. The warm wind is blowing pretty hard and the hikers at the U.S. Highway 12 meeting place are looking for hats that will tie tight to their heads and not blow into the wild blue yonder.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: Nine hikers showed up for our hike on an absolutely gorgeous spring evening. We went across U.S. Highway 12 to hike out the Ice Age Trail to Esterly Road and then back on the horse trail.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: On an evening where it had been raining on and off all day, five veteran hikers showed up for our hike. At exactly 4 p.m. we started out to go around Lake La Grange. The mist and drizzle abated a little after we were underway.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: After overnight rain and cloudy weather only six experienced hikers showed up for our Tuesday hike.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: On a nice spring evening, 10 people showed up, including three new hikers — one from Lake Geneva and the other two from Delavan. We started out on the connector trail but at the first junction we turned right onto the old subdivision trails. After a left, a right and then a left, we finally got back to the connector trail. That was probably the nicest part of the hike.
The Tuesday hike report by Andy Whitney: Jake called me around 3 p.m. on Tuesday to let me know he was sick and would not be able to lead the Tuesday night hike.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: When I arrived at the parking lot there was about 2 inches of snow covering the lot; it had not been plowed. Still, five veteran hikers and one canine showed up for what turned out to be a delightful hike. The temperature had been just above freezing for most of the day. After a brief discussion all of us thought that any type of ice gear would just cause the snow to clump on the ice gear. There was no real problem going with just our hiking boots.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: Tuesday evening was beautiful with the temperature near 58 degrees and sunshine. We were happy to see Hannah return after several years absent as well as Bob, a new hiker.
The Tuesday hike report by Jake Gerlach: This week there were seven people on the hike, including a new hiker, Amy. Amy had heard about the hike on Facebook. Because it gets dark so early, we just went around Lake LaGrange. That way we could start at exactly 4 p.m., preserving as much daylight as possible for the hike.
