Photo Gallery : Rushing Waters

PALMYRA -- Rushing Waters primarily raises and processes trout for the restaurant industry, but in the past few years, the owners have added a restaurant to the business.

They are taking advantage of a growing trend in agritourism. Read about it HERE.

The Trout House has been featured on "The Wisconsin Foodie" television program. Fritsch, who has been with the fish farm for 20 years, said that same mentality of sourcing your food super locally is true for consumers as well as chefs.

STATELINE NEWS -- “We have not come close yet to finding the perfect soybean because perfection is not achievable, but every year we try to get as close as possible.”

That has been Bill Campbell’s philosophy since joining Dairyland Seed Co. as a cross-breeder/germinator on Nov. 1, 1972.

He has worked with corn and alfalfa, but Campbell has concentrated his energy and efforts on soybeans since 1984.

BELOIT -- A memorial art exhibit of the art of Dale Edwards will be on display during May at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator. The sculptor was a resident of Beloit, where he developed his distinctive style. He died in September 2015 in Arizona at age 76.

STATELINE NEWS -- The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is hosting the annual High School Art Show through April 27, 2017.

This show highlights the creativity of young and upcoming artists from FJ Turner and Beloit Memorial high schools as well as Rock County Christian School.

The artwork includes two- and three-dimensional pieces.

When I asked a group of high school students how long it's been since they read a printed newspaper, I had a pretty good idea I already knew the answer.

They hadn't read one in two weeks, or even a month. A few had read one in the past year, so I guess that's one good thing.

(Editor's note: For 10 days in April 2017, residents in southern Wisconsin were on edge as authorities launched a nationwide manhunt. Here is a day-by-day look back at the search for Joseph Jakubowski.)

JANESVILLE MESSENGER -- The alarm sounded at the Armageddon Gun Shop on Janesville's north side shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, April 4, 2017. As police responded to the scene and began to assess the situation, a call came in about a car fire that soon would be connected to the burglary. The investigation escalated quickly and residents of southern Wisconsin remained on edge for more than a week while authorities launched a nationwide manhunt.

JANESVILLE MESSENGER -- Joseph A. Jakubowski, the 32-year-old Janesville man suspected of robbing a gun shop and mailing a 161-page manifesto railing against the government to President Donald Trump, had been attempting to "live off the grid," during his time on the run.

At a press conference Friday afternoon, April 14, 2017, at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville, Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said Jakubowski had been found under a tarp in “very primitive conditions,” looking disheveled and sleep-deprived.

ROCK TOWNSHIP -- Rep. Mark Pocan never has had the luxury of serving in a majority in the House of Representatives.

Since his election in 2012, he’s had a different mindset, particularly since the election of Donald Trump as president.

With Republicans firmly in control of the House and Senate, Democrats are the opposition party after eight years of Barack Obama.

But that doesn’t mean they are powerless.

STATELINE NEWS -- Trumpet player Tony Scodwell has spent his career performing with some of the most well-known names in jazz and big-band music.

And now the 1961 Beloit Memorial High School graduate will be the latest inductee into the school’s hall of fame.
