BELOIT -- Voters will chose four members of the Beloit City Council April 5, 2106, when they go to the polls. Six candidates are vying for four available seats.
The candidates include incumbents Sheila DeForest and Ana Kelly and challengers Regina Dunkin, Kevin Leavy, Mark Preuschl and James Faragher. Leavy previously served on the council from 2004 to 2015.

BELOIT -- Lori Curtis Luther describes her first seven months as Beloit’s city manager as "uniquely challenging."
Just this week, she's helped calm a grieving city following the shooting death of 5-year-old Austin Ramos Jr.
That follows months-long maneuvering to remove the police chief, and next up is a tough city budget.
UPDATE -- Jan. 29, 2016. Beloit police today announced the arrest of Hugo Martinez, 18, in connection with the shooting death Jan. 22, 2016 of 5-year-old Austin Ramos Jr.
Martinez had been identified as a fourth person of interest in Ramos Jr.'s death.
Eric Salazar-Mota and Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza are currently are wanted and police say the face charges of homicide party to a crime.
A fourth man, Isaac W. Torres, was picked up by authorities in McHenry County, Illinois on an unrelated warrant of substantial battery. He is being returned to Rock County.
BELOIT -- A 24-year-old Beloit man has been detained as a 'person of interest' in connection with the shooting death of a 5-year-old boy Jan. 22, 2016 in Beloit, Interim Police Chief David Zibolski announced at a news conference a short time ago.
