WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- The newest addition to downtown Delavan marks some of the city’s oldest industrial roots -- in a way that makes people stop and stare.
A new mural on the west side of the Delavan Fitness Center building, 114 N. Third St., features three of Delavan’s early industries: Barker Lumber Co., Moser Screw Machine Co. and Urbandale Dairy.

WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Eighth-grade teacher Deb Amici is in her 30th year at St. Andrew School in Delavan, and 2017 marks her 39th year as a Catholic school teacher.
A Catholic school alumna, Amici was inspired by her sixth-grade teacher -- who also was her aunt -- to become an educator. But to this daughter of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, dairy farmers and the mother of two adult daughters, the classroom always felt familiar, like coming home.
WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Fish stories don’t necessarily require catching fish. But many anglers across the Stateline will begin pursuit of the latter in order to tell the former as Wisconsin’s inland fishing season starts Saturday, May 6.

WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- Delavan Mayor Mel Nieuwenhuis knew he only had 30 seconds in front of the camera to make a good impression of his city.
So, like the punch line in the old joke about how someone gets to Carnegie Hall, he practiced.
Nieuwenhuis was among the Delavan residents filmed last summer for an episode of the Milwaukee Public Television program, “Around the Corner with John McGivern,” which will be broadcast Thursday, Feb. 16.
WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- The Big Top is coming down.
Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey, which called itself The Greatest Show on Earth, announced earlier this month it was closing in May, after rallying for years against a difficult economy, changing tastes in entertainment and pressure from animal rights groups.
The circus elephant has a long history in Delavan, part of which came to an end this month when Ringling Brothers & Barnum Bailey announced it was closing in May. Delavan has maintained its place in circus history, hosting a variety of traveling acts over the years.
WALWORTH COUNTY SUNDAY -- When someone says, “Go fly a kite,” most people don’t think of heading out to the lake during the winter.
But that is what will happen in Delavan during the annual Sky Circus on Ice held Friday through Sunday, Feb. 17 through Feb. 19, at Lake Lawn Resort.
Festivities will kick off about 10 a.m. Feb. 18 and Feb. 19 with a grand launch ceremony.
