What: 12th annual Beloit International Film Festival

When: Feb. 24 through March 5

Where: Film venues include Bagels & More, Bushel & Peck’s, La Casa Grande, Domenico’s, Luxury 10 and the Hendricks Center.

Tickets

Box office located at 439 Grand Ave. in downtown Beloit. Advance hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Feb. 23. Call 773-818-5010. Fees for films are $9 for adults online, at the box office or before the festival, $10 at the door. Student tickets all $5. Opening night block party and Classic Film showing are free. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students with ID for the Silent Film Showcase. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students for the Sing-A-Long film.

Highlights

• Sing-A-Long event features the 1964 Beatles’ film "A Hard Day’s Night," which will be shown at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Schubert’s Luxury 10 Cinema, 2799 Cranston Road, Beloit.

• Fourth annual Wisconsin-Illinois Showdown, featuring filmmakers from the border states during the festival’s opening weekend.

• Silent Film Showcase will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the Beloit Memorial High School auditorium, 1225 Fourth St. It will feature the Herald Lloyd film "The Freshman."

• BIFF Cares is an educational and outreach effort that will include four feature films -- "American Street Kid," "Screenagers," "Because You Care" and "The Bear and the Owl" -- that deal with issues that affect us all as individuals and thus our communities.

• This year’s Classic Film offering will be "The Graduate." The free screening, the final official event of the 10-day festival, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Luxury 10.
