A woman was seriously injured and a man arrested Monday after a methamphetamine cook ignited at a Lake Geneva hotel, according to a news release from the Lake Geneva Police Department.

Lake Geneva Police Chief Michael S. Rasmussen said officers responded to a call for an activated fire alarm at The Cove, 111 Center St., about 3:14 a.m. Monday. While on the way, police received a second call to assist a woman yelling for help at the Mill Creek Hotel, 123 Center St., just north of The Cove.

Responding officers determined the woman at the Mill Creek Hotel had been burned inside a room at The Cove, left the room and headed for the other hotel seeking help.

The woman, who was not identified in the release, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee and is in serious condition.

An investigation revealed a meth cook ignited the room at the cove, according to the release.

Police said guests were evacuated from the area and the scene was secured.

Officers arrested Patrick M. McBean, 50, of Lake Geneva, a second occupant in the room at The Cove.

Charges for possession of methamphetamine waste product, possession of drug paraphernalia related to methamphetamine manufacturing and bail jumping have been referred to the Walworth County District Attorney’s office, according to the release.

Two City of Lake Geneva Police Department officers, two Walworth County deputies, a Lake Geneva firefighter and a security officer for The Cove were treated for smoke inhalation at Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn and released.

The City of Lake Geneva Police Department was assisted by the City of Lake Geneva Fire/EMS Departments, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Town of Linn Police Department, Racine County Hazardous Material Team, Walworth County Public Health and the City of Lake Geneva Public Works Department.
