Police: Babysitter tans, leaving three children in running car Loves Park Police Department

STATELINE NEWS -- A Loves Park babysitter faces child endangerment charges after police say she left three children in a running car to go inside a fitness center to tan.

Police were called about 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 to the parking lot of Planet Fitness on Second Street, according to a Loves Park Police Department news release.

A passerby called to report three unattended children in a vehicle.

Police reported finding three children including an 11-month-old boy, 6-year-old girl and 8-year-old girl in the vehicle. The keys were in the ignition and the engine was running, according to the news release. The doors were unlocked and the windows were down.

Officers report that they were told that the driver of the vehicle was inside tanning.

Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle inside the business and were told she was baby sitting two of the kids.

The woman was charged with endangering the life of a child.
