Suspect in fatal Beloit shooting due in court Wednesday

BELOIT — The suspect in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old Beloit man is due back in court where he faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide.

A criminal complaint accuses 28-year-old Evans Wiggins of shooting Shawn Bell numerous times Aug. 1. Prosecutors have said a car theft may have motivated the fatal shooting.

The complaint says the shooting occurred after the 25-year-old victim took off in Wiggins' luxury car. It says Wiggins jumped in another vehicle and searched for Bell, eventually finding him.

Wiggins is being held on $250,000 bond.
