Members of the Janesville Morning Rotary were on hand Thursday to dedicate the new electronic sign.
JANESVILLE — For those driving past Rotary Botanical Gardens, it’s now easier to know what’s going on inside thanks to a new sign funded by Janesville’s Morning Rotary Club.
This sign was made possible by a $15,000 donation from the Morning Rotary and was dedicated Thursday.
The donation was chosen as the 25th-year anniversary project for the club.
Proceeds from the club’s two major annual fundraisers — the pie ride and fruit basket sales — support local youth programs, said club treasurer Dave Marshick.
But a portion of the money is set aside in the foundation fund, which was used for the sign.
Gary Smith, interim director of Rotary Gardens, said their key mission is to educate people about horticulture.
“This allows up to promote those educational opportunities,” Smith said. “We rely so heavily on revenue from those events, so it gives us an opportunity to market ourselves.”
JNB Signs, which did the installation, and the use of materials that Rotary Gardens already had kept costs low.
