Terry Mayer/staff Curtis Universal now has contracts in place with the city of Delavan and the town of Richmond to provide ambulance service through 2015. Last week the Milwaukee company also finalized a deal to acquire the assets of Delavan Rescue Squad, whose building is shown above on Mound Road in Delavan. The rescue squad had announced earlier this year that it would be closing after more than 70 years.
DELAVAN — It came down to the 11th hour as many negotiations often do. However, residents in the city of Delavan and the town of Richmond received a welcome Easter present as a result.
Curtis Universal signed a contract with the municipalities and then inked a deal March 30 to acquire the assets of the financially troubled Delavan Rescue Squad, which announced in January that it would be closing its doors after serving the community for more than 70 years.
Curtis then took over operations Monday, April 1, 2013.

JANESVILLE — Since opening in May 1928, the iconic building at 108 S. Jackson St. in Janesville has been a gathering place for culture and the arts downtown.
Known as the Janesville Woman’s Club building, its longevity is tied to the efforts of volunteers, such as the Foundation for the Preservation of 108 South Jackson.
For the past 25 years, the group has hosted a spring luncheon and style show to raise money to maintain the building. This year, the show will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Janesville Country Club.
