At this time, the following areas are closed or being monitored by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and 911 Communications Center for flooding concerns:

Happy Hollow Park – Closed

South River Road – Road Closure from Hwy 11 Bypass/Avalon Rd to South Oakley Rd

Mallwood Estates – Lake Shore Drive Closed from East Road 3 St. to East Road 7 St.

Mallwood Estates – East Road 9 St. Closed east from Ridge Road to end

Summerville Rd Closed north of S CTH J

West St. Lawrence between S. CTH H and South Smythe School Rd – High Waters

Highway 67 from Highway 140 to S. Northrup Rd – High Waters

S. Northrup Rd north of Highway 67 – High Waters

Beloit Newark and Nelson Rd – High Waters

Sugar River and Sugar River Park – Monitoring water levels

Avon Township – Monitoring water levels

Turtle Creek in Clinton – Monitoring water levels

At this time, the American Red Cross is on stand-by for the following services as needed:

• Food, shelter and clothing

• Home Clean Up Kits

• Guidance for Recovery from Flooding

• Recovery Information and Referrals

Information regarding the flooding situation is easily available on the Rock County Sheriff’s Office webpage at www.co.rock.wi.us by selecting the Sheriff’s page.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is urging citizens to avoid traveling on roadways with high waters or roads closed due to flooding. Please report any hazardous conditions related to the flooding to Rock County Communications at 608-757-2244. All other concerns related to the current flood situation should be reported to the respective townships or through the Rock County Sheriff’s Office – Emergency Management Division at 608-758-8440.

 
Sandbags available for Janesville residents beginning Friday morning PDF Print E-mail

JANESVILLE -- Filled sandbags will be available for Janesville residents and businesses from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the City Services Center at 2200 County Highway 51. Sandbags also will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The city is limiting sandbags to 200 per residence/business address. Janesville residents and businesses wishing to obtain complimentary sandbags are asked to visit the City Services Center at 2200 County Highway 51.

Residents are asked to park in the lot and enter the office customer service area to complete a registration form and show proof of Janesville corporate limits residency. Residents will then be directed to move their vehicle into the
 garage section of the building for sandbags to be loaded. For questions, call 755-3110.

JANESVILLE -- More than 300 particpants gathered at Janesville's Riverside Park March 13, 2013 for the third annual Pace for Parkinson's Walk/Run.

The event raised more than $1,400 to be donated to the Wisconsin Parkinson's Foundation.
