Several Stateline area teams should challenge in the next two weeks, and here is a roundup of what’s coming up.

Baseball

In Division 1, the Janesville Craig Sectional features a host of tough teams, including Janesville Parker, Stoughton, Verona, Fort Atkinson and Craig.

Parker has battled two-time defending state champion Sun Prairie and Middleton for bragging rights in the Big Eight. Brian Martin’s Vikings are seeking their first state tourney appearance since 1992.

Other area teams in the sectional are Beloit Memorial, Milton and Elkhorn.

Badger will participate in the Kenosha Bradford Sectional, where the hosts and Wilmot are the favorites with Westosha Central and Burlington in the mix.

In D-2, Rock Valley teams Big Foot, Beloit Turner and Edgerton are the top challengers in one regional of the Evansville Sectional, a bracket that also includes Clinton and Brodhead/Juda.

Evansville will have a tough time in a regional that features Lodi, McFarland and Columbus.

Top-ranked Jefferson leads a regional field in the Waupun Sectional that includes East Troy, Delavan-Darien and Whitewater.

In D-3, 2012 state runner-up Parkview is in a tough regional with Wisconsin Heights and Deerfield. Palmyra-Eagle is in a regional of the Markesan Sectional that includes perennial power Racine St. Catherine’s.

In D-4, Williams Bay and Faith Christian are in a regional of the Johnson Creek Sectional that includes four Six Rivers East rivals.

Girls soccer

Area Division 1 squads Parker, Craig, Beloit Memorial and Badger won’t be able to challenge four Big Eight entries in their regional of the Kettle Moraine Sectional.

The D-2 field includes Elkhorn and Milton in the Waunakee Sectional, where the host Warriors and several other Badger Conference rivals and Burlington of the SLC should battle it out.

Division 3 will see Delavan-Darien as one of the favorites in a regional that includes Big Foot/Williams Bay, sectional host Evansville and Whitewater from a loaded Rock Valley Conference.

Meanwhile, East Troy is stuck in a regional of the Pewaukee Sectional that includes the host team and top-rated and defending champ Catholic Memorial.

In D-4, Clinton and P-E will compete in a sectional that features programs from Kenosha, Racine and the Milwaukee area.
