STATELINE NEWS -- Stray cats and dogs that police recover in Beloit now will be transported to the Rock County Humane Society 24 hours a day, according to a city of Beloit news release.

The new agreement went into effect Jan. 1.

Under the agreement last year between the city and humane society, uninjured and healthy cats and dogs recovered after 5 p.m. ended up at the Beloit Police Department.

Officials hope it will be easier for residents to locate their pets.

Any animal that is sick or injured still will be transported to the Dane County Humane Society.
